Topic: Initial Thoughts

This motivation for this blog was from a book by Seth Godin named Whatcha Gonna Do With That Duck. Someday I will talk more in detail about why this blog was necessary, for now let's just say I believe I have information to share that is of value to those interested in Tech. and are in a journey similar to that of mine.

I have been lucky to have a good start to 2022 with a job working at one of the largest Cyber Security companies in the world. One of the perks to working with the company is the encouragement to upskill and certify yourself with the company covering the cost of the certification.

I believe the value of the certification is obtained in the journey or the pursuit of the certification and not so much in passing the exam and getting a piece of paper although to be honest that does feel very good.

Here's a list of IT certifications that I have obtained so far:

1. AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner,

2. AWS Solutions Architect Associate,

3. Certified Kubernetes Administrator,

4. Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (Jan 30'th, 2022)

Having come from a non-IT background, there has been a bit of a learning curve when it comes to networking. Upon consultation with my experienced manager and team lead, they advised that I pursue the CCNA certification as the knowledge gained in that pursuit would be beneficial for both my career at the company and in life. So the upcoming blog posts in the next few day would be about my journey in obtaining the CCNA certification.
